The Green Room Community Theatre will open its second show of the 2010-2011 season on Friday, November 5, 2010. Welcome to Mitford is based on the Mitford novels by Jan Karon and adapted for the stage by Robert Inman.
Father Tim Kavanagh is the much-loved rector in the close-knit mountain community of Mitford, NC. Father Tim’s life is absorbed with the life of his town and the pastoring of his lively congregation. But things change radically when Father Tim takes in teenager Dooley Barlow, the unruly orphaned grandson of the church gardener. As Father Tim struggles to raise Dooley, he is forced to face his own challenges with his health, career, and marriage to his new wife, Cynthia. Father Tim prays for direction and finds an answer through scripture. In a final sermon, he surrenders himself to God’s will and is soon rewarded. Hand in hand with Cynthia, he steps confidently into his future. Come home to Mitford in this heartwarming play.
