The Green Room Community Theatre is pleased to announce the dates for its 16th annual Summer Shakespeare Theatre Institute. This unique experience is a week-long theatre day camp in which students 1st grade through 12th grade explore the exciting world of William Shakespeare and his times. Then they participate in a production of one of his plays! Using Shakespeare as a guide, participants learn more about acting, auditioning skills, costumes, scenery, how to memorize, mask making, lights, make-up, becoming a character on the stage, and working as an ensemble. These are key elements to becoming a better performer (and it can help with English classes, too).
This year, you are invited to experience one of Shakespeare’s more mysterious plays… The Winter’s Tale. We will set this romantic comedy in a magical world!
The dates for this year’s camp are July 15 – 20, 2013. The camp will run Monday – Saturday from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm each day. On Saturday, July 20th at 1:30 pm, the students will present The Winter’s Tale in a performance for family and friends.
Camp will be held at The Green Room’s new facility, the Old Post Office Playhouse located at 10 South Main Avenue in Newton. To encourage pre-registration, we have an Early Registration Discount. If paid in full before June 17, 2013, the cost is $160 per student with a $25 discount available for additional siblings. After June 17, the cost will be $175 per student with a sibling discount also available.
