SPRING 2012 AFTER SCHOOL DRAMA CLASSES AT
THE GREEN ROOM COMMUNITY THEATRE
Creative Works is an after school drama program offered at The Green Room Community Theatre for students in grades K-12. From general acting classes for those in elementary school to more focused and advanced classes for middle and high school students, Creative Works provides the skills and training to help all those interested become better actors and more comfortable on stage.
Discover and Explore the exciting and magical world of drama! Each week students will learn new skills as they play fun games, act out magical stories, and tap into their imaginations. These classes are designed to introduce new people to theatre, as well as help those with experience continue to grow. Throughout the semester, students will enjoy classes on Audition Skills, Movement, Voice, Improvisation, Technical Theatre, and Performance. At the end of the semester, the class will present a play for friends and family, with each student taking on a character in the story.
Discovering Drama is open to grades K-3 and meets on Tuesdays from 4:30-6pm The instructor is Sara Scronce. Classes begin January 31, 2012 and run through May 8, 2012. Exploring Drama is open to grades 4-8 and meets on Tuesdays from 4:30-6pm. The instructor is Hollie Sherrill. Classes begin January 31, 2012 and run through May 8, 2012.
Experience a taste of the world of Musical Theatre with MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP. Students will be fully engaged in a class that is designed to meet the needs of young vocal performers and help prepare them for auditions and subsequent musical roles. Musical Theatre Workshop focuses on voice and acting techniques with just a touch of choreography. The culmination of theses classes will be a performance of selected scenes including solos and group numbers.
Musical Theatre Workshop for grades 3-9 meets on THURSDAYS. (Note day change from last year.) Instructors are David Brown and Cathy Banner. Sara Sconce will also be instructing on certain days. Classes begin on February 2, 2012 and run through May 10, 2012.
Basic Acting and Improvisation Grades 7-12 meets on Thursdays. Explore basic scene work, character building and improvisation in this beginning and intermediate level acting class. Instructor is Cynthia Rand. Classes begin on February 2 and run through May 10.
